Text of Tract Below

Churches today are filled with salesmen masquerading as preachers. Oh how they love to sell ya Jesus! They’ll tell you Jesus will make you wealthy. They’ll tell you how your life can now be a success because Jesus is walking by your side. “Success, health, and wealth” is their motto and they sure do draw in the crowds! How the people love to have the roses thrown to them without any thorns! Yes sir, the churches today abound with smilin´ salesmen selling the latest and greatest blessing when you purchase Jesus as your Savior. Many of the modern day preachers have sold themselves down the river and traded in their Bible for a sales manual.

Well not me! I’m no salesman and I’m not selling Jesus. But I’ll preach to ya Jesus! I’ll tell you the way it is - God has declared you a sinner, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”1 I won’t hide behind a smile and tell you everything is going to be all right because I’d be a flat out liar. On judgment day nothing is going to be all right for you if you reject Jesus. I won’t smile at you because sin is a serious issue. But don’t take my word for it; listen to what God says, “Whosoever hath sinned against Me, him will I blot out of My book. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”2 Now do you think God was smiling when He said that? If God appeared before you right now and told you He was going to cast you into the lake of fire, would you be smiling? Do you think it’s a small matter that people are actually going to end up in this place of eternal punishment? No sir, I’m not selling Jesus but I’m preachin´ SALVATION! I’ll tell you why Jesus came; His mission was to save sinners...and you’re one of them! “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.”3 Read that again. Jesus didn’t come so you could have a successful and prosperous life. He came to SAVE! Save who? Save SINNERS! Save from what? From an eternity in the LAKE OF FIRE! He had to give His life as a ransom to buy your way out of hell, “For the wages of sin is death”4 and Christ paid the wages for you when He died on that cross. He carried your sin with Him right down to the grave. I’m still tellin´ ya that you need Jesus! I’m being straight forward in telling you that God says you aren’t good enough to make it to heaven. If you were, then the death of Jesus on the cross was a waste of time. A perfect God demands perfection and you, me, and everyone else fall far short of that standard. We are transgressors, rebels, and lawbreakers who stand guilty before God of breaking His holy commandments, “...for sin is the transgression of the law. For whosoever shall keep the whole law [of God], and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”5 Did you get that? One sin makes you guilty of breaking the whole law! No such thing as a “little sin” with an infinitely holy God. One sin is all it takes for God to render a guilty verdict against you on the day of judgment! You need Jesus! You need the sinless Christ “Who did no sin”6 and met God’s perfect standard of righteousness that you can’t meet. And don’t try throwing in your good deeds next to Jesus either, as if He needed some help to save you. The sinless Christ doesn’t need the help of sinful man for “we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.”7 God isn’t accepting any filthy rags next to the precious blood His Son shed for you on the cross. Hand a filthy rag to God and He is going to throw it right in the fire. But God will accept the cleansing blood of Christ for “the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.”8 There ain’t no good deed you can do that will cleanse you of your sin so you have to turn to Jesus. And if you were baptized, don’t look to that for help because that’s not going to save you either. Tell me, can water carry your sins for you? No! But Jesus “bare our sins in His own body.”9 He did carry your sins for you. Can you nail water to a cross? No! But concerning Jesus it says, “they crucified Him.”10 God doesn’t offer mercy through baptism because water can’t die for you. For it is “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us.”11 The mercy of God is offered through Jesus. The cleansing of sin is offered through Jesus. You need to “Repent, and turn yourself from all your transgressions; so iniquity [sin] shall not be your ruin.”12 Turn from your sins and put your faith and trust in Jesus alone. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast.”13 The resurrected Christ did all the work for you!

Don’t let any preacher sell you on anything else - Jesus came to save you from hell! Beware of those preachers who only preach “feel good” messages; they’re hiding something. Sin is serious and it must be taken seriously. God took it so serious that He sent His Son to die for you. Isn’t that serious enough? Call on Jesus today to save you and receive Him as your Lord and Savior. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”14 If you do, then I’ll be smilin´… and I’ll see you in heaven!
